Legambiente Club: Lario Sponda Orientale
The Legambiente Club Lario Sponda Orientale (East shore of Lake Como) was born in 2005 to oppose to the chaotic transformation, governed by real estate speculation, of a landscape full of nature and history. Its aim is to spread information, raise environmental awareness, protect and enhance the landscape between lake and mountains, in addition to promoting sustainable tourism based on the preservation of the old housing clusters, traditional cultures, paths, development of local products and an articulated cultural offer.
The club in recent years has participated in the Clean Up the World Campaign, Voler bene all’Italia (Loving Italy), linked to the project La Scuola adotta un Comune (A school adopts a Town), Goletta dei Laghi, Carovana delle Alpi, Nevediversa, involving citizens, public authorities, schools and other associations. It worked, together with the Lecco club, on remarks on planning and construction projects, the adaptation of the Provincial Territorial Plan to Law 12/2000, Government Plans of the Towns in the area and the Piano di Bacino.
On these issues it has promoted several meetings and has produced some photographic exhibitions in particular on the Sentiero del Viandante.
In 2011, together with the Lecco club, it organized at Villa Monastero the conference "Il Bel Paese si specchia nel Lario" (the good town is reflected on Lake Como) which records where published.
Since 2010 it is active in the group “OCCHI sul PIAN di SPAGNA” (eyes on the Pian di Spagna), in which all the environmental groups participate in promoting guided tours for schools, conferences, awareness days by foot or by bike.
In 2014 it received as a free loan from the Municipality of Bellano its own headquarter at the train station and in return volunteers provide a periodic cleaning of two green areas.
The office is usually open on Saturdays from 10 to 12.Website:
